The Home Ed Hub – Terms & Conditions
Welcome to The Home Ed Hub! These Terms & Conditions outline the expectations, commitments, and policies for families booking sessions with us. Please read carefully before booking. By confirming a booking, you agree to these Terms.
1. General Information
-
The Home Ed Hub provides educational sessions for home educated children aged 5–14.
-
Sessions are taught by a qualified teacher and are designed to be engaging, creative, and curriculum-linked, but they are not a replacement for full-time schooling.
-
Parents/legal guardians remain responsible for their child’s overall education as required by UK law.
2. Bookings & Payments
-
Bookings must be made in advance through our website or directly via email.
-
Invoices are sent at the start of each month (or for block bookings) and payment must be made in advance to secure your child’s place.
-
Late or non-payment may result in your child losing their place.
-
Block bookings are non-refundable once sessions have commenced.
3. Cancellations & Missed Sessions
-
If your child cannot attend due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, the missed session can be carried forward where possible, subject to availability.
-
If The Home Ed Hub needs to cancel a session (e.g. due to illness, emergencies), an alternative date will be offered or a credit will be applied to your next invoice.
-
Refunds are not offered for missed sessions unless cancelled by The Home Ed Hub.
4. Session Information
-
Group sizes are kept small to ensure individual attention. Maximum numbers are set for each session and will not be exceeded.
-
Sessions are held either:
-
In-person at The Hub (a home-based studio in Swanage, purpose-adapted for small group learning), or
-
Online via Zoom (with links provided in advance).
-
-
Parents must ensure children arrive promptly (or log in online on time) with any required materials.
5. Safeguarding & Conduct
-
The Home Ed Hub is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
-
Children must treat staff, other children, and resources with respect.
-
In-person sessions: Parents/carers must drop off and collect children promptly at agreed times.
-
Online sessions: Parents/carers must ensure children are supervised appropriately and have a safe working environment at home.
-
Any safeguarding concerns will be handled according to local safeguarding procedures (Dorset Council).
6. Materials & Resources
-
Basic materials (exercise books, worksheets, online resources) are provided by The Home Ed Hub.
-
For some sessions, parents may be asked to provide simple household items (sent in a prep list beforehand).
-
Children do not need to bring anything to in-person sessions. All resources will be provided.
7. Online Learning
-
For online sessions, families must have a suitable device, internet access, and Zoom installed.
-
Parents are responsible for supervising their child’s online participation.
-
Sessions may not be recorded, shared, or redistributed without prior written permission.
8. Health & Safety (In-Person Sessions)
-
The Hub is a home-based learning environment adapted for education. Safety and risk assessments are in place.
-
Parents must notify The Home Ed Hub of any medical conditions, allergies, or additional needs before sessions begin.
-
Children who are unwell should not attend in-person sessions.
9. Data Protection & Privacy
-
Personal data (names, contact details, medical info) is collected only for the purpose of running sessions safely and effectively.
-
Data is stored securely and never shared with third parties without consent, except where required by law (e.g. safeguarding concerns).
